About inksmithy

I moved to the United Kingdom in December 2003, to marry a wonderful lady in 2004, which union has produced 2 lovely children. My interests lie chiefly among the technical areas, robotics, programming, artificial intelligence, that sort of thing. I have a love for technology and firmly believe that properly used, tech can solve some of the most pressing problems the world is facing. Unfortunately, it isn't being used properly most of the time, with software patents and pointless bickering over recyclable ideas and hardware. I'm a bit of an inventor, and I'll often spend time on this blog typing up ideas which may never come to fruition. I have a couple of projects which I do work on a fair bit and I'll be writing about them as well.

Arrogant

This is my little boy Duncan, who is four.  I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a child with so much confidence and scorn on such a young person. He frightens me at times.

Evil haxxors

Some bottom feeding oxygen thief of a hacker tried to hijack this site on the 13th of November and may well have succeeded in infecting some people’s computer between then and now. I can do no more than let people … Continue reading

First lunar photo

As some of you may or may not know, I’ve been pretty interested in taking some pictures of the wonders I see through my telescope. Not necessarily full on long exposure astrophotography, but little ten second exposures which are enough … Continue reading

Iridium Flares

My little patch of Northumberland had a fairly busy sky last night between 17:30 and 18:00, which I suspect not many people noticed. I wouldn’t either, were it not for a really useful little application called Heavens Above, which takes … Continue reading

Top Table Prepared

I’m finding more and more opportunities to practice with my camera – I’ve decided to pretty well adopt the policy that if I go out somewhere, the camera comes with me. I can’t say I’m a fabulous photographer, but I … Continue reading

Junior Warden – Hextoldsham No. 5577

Not something I spend a lot of time talking about really, since I believe the spiritual aspect of a person isn’t something which needs to be blarted about all over the place. My beliefs are my beliefs and your beliefs … Continue reading
